While a Port St. Lucie police officer was questioning a driver suspected of marijuana possession, the suspect tried to speed away with the officer still hanging on to the car.
Body camera footage captured a scary moment for a Florida police officer when he was dragged 15 feet by a car during a traffic stop over the weekend.
The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday when a Port St. Lucie police officer pulled over a vehicle at a gas station, WPTV-TV reports. During the stop, the officer asked the 19-year-old driver to exit the car after smelling an odor of marijuana.
As the officer continues to question the man and asks him to get out of the car again, the suspect tells him that he's "scared of cops." The driver finally guns the accelerator and tries to escape with the officer still hanging on.
The officer was dragged 15 feet before letting go, and he injured his left foot and hip. Police arrested the suspect after he returned to the scene.
The suspect was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting with violence, aggravated battery and vehicle citations.
